Subject: eBook workshop handouts and NIMAS
Greetings!
Attached are the Microsoft Office 2003 handouts (powerpoint, ebook list, and file types). I revised them to correct some errors, move some slides around for clarity, and added some information that you may find useful. Please use these revised versions if you wish to copy or distribute the handouts. You should be able to open and save these files in MS Office Word and Powerpoint 2008 for Mac. If you have problems, please let me know.
Participants asked for the suggested language that should appear on purchase orders when ordering textbooks from publishers. This language is required to appear on the purchase orders if the LEA wants the publisher to submit a NIMAS file set to the NIMAC so the textbook or core material can be converted into specialized formats:
By agreeing to deliver the materials marked with “NIMAS” on this contract or purchase order, the publisher agrees to prepare and submit, on or before //__, a NIMAS file set to the NIMAC that complies with the terms and procedures set forth by the NIMAC. Should the vendor be a distributor of the materials and not the publisher, the distributor agrees to immediately notify the publisher of its obligation to submit NIMAS file sets of the purchased products to the NIMAC. The files will be used for the production of alternate formats as permitted under the law for students with print disabilities.
If you have any questions or need more information, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you.

Document from Michelle Garrett

My project was an assistive technology review in which I review various switches, communication devices. I've included info. on how each product works, which company is selling it, how much it costs, what I think of the product and an internet link to the product site. Most of the products would pertain to the low-incidence population I teach, but check it out, there should be overlaps for higher level students.
